National and Labour = Tax Cuts But Not Yet

National and Labour = Tax Cuts But Not Yet

Rodney Hide Friday, 6 October 2006

Press Releases - Economy

ACT Leader Rodney Hide said today he was bitterly disappointed - but not surprised - that National Leader Don Brash has u-turned and adopted Labour's tax policy.

"Both parties now tell Kiwis that they would like to cut taxes - but not yet", Mr Hide said.

"National and Labour have betrayed hardworking Kiwis, who desperately need tax relief at a time when government has never been so bloated with taxpayers' cash.

"The Centre for Independent Studies, an independent think tank, recently recommended lower flatter taxes and criticised tax policies from National and the Government.

"National no longer offers any meaningful alternative to Labour. It's no wonder that the two big parties have given up on debating policy.

"ACT is the only party which continues to guarantee immediate income tax relief to hard working families", Mr Hide said.
