NZ First Delivers On Wages
New Zealand First labour and industrial relations spokesperson Peter Brown welcomes the largest increase to the minimum wage since 1999 and is pleased that the Confidence and Supply agreement has again delivered for New Zealanders most in need.
From April 1 the adult minimum wage will increase to $11.25 an hour. New Zealand First secured annual increases to the minimum wage as part of their confidence and supply agreement with Labour with a view to it being set at $12.00 an hour by the end of 2008 if economic conditions permit.
“This increase will provide a great help to lower paid workers and their families,” said Mr Brown.
“It is yet another example of New Zealand First’s confidence and supply agreement working to help those most in need.
“I look forward to further increases next year as we move toward our target of $12.00 per hour,” said Mr Brown.
