Labour dragging feet on important reviews
The Labour Government is dragging its feet on its review of regulatory frameworks, says National's Commerce spokesman, Simon Power.
"I would like to know why they have not delivered the Second Milestone Report on the Quality Regulation Review by the promised date.
"It was due on March 31 but it seems it had not even been discussed by Cabinet by then.
"This review is very important because it seeks to ensure that our regulatory environment is effective and that it is produced at least cost to the economy.
"This should have been before Cabinet by now, so what's the hold-up? Are they on a go-slow?
"This is the second piece of important work that this Government has dragged its feet on.
"Only just today Commerce Minister Lianne Dalziel finally released the discussion paper reviewing the price control provisions of the Commerce Act.
"It was due to be released to the public in February, so that makes it two months late.
"There's hardly a legislative logjam at the moment, so what's the problem?"
