Future New Zealand Conference a great start

Future New Zealand co-leaders Gordon Copeland MP and Larry Baldock, are delighted with the success of the new Party’s first conference. The conference was held in Tauranga on Saturday (17 November) and attracted 130 delegates from the North Island.

“Since our membership is drawn from right across the country, we propose a number of such regional conferences between now and the 2008 elections,” said Mr Baldock.

“The Tauranga conference has been a most encouraging start with much positive feedback from the delegates.”

Highlights of the conference included the presentation to delegates of the Party’s founding principles, Key Note Speeches from Pastor Rasik Ranchord on the importance of the Separation of Church and State, and Independent MP and party Co-leader Gordon Copeland outlining key elements of the Party’s policy and political positioning.

The 130 attendees strongly endorsed the parties 15 principles based upon Judeo Christian values. Amongst those was a strong commitment to protecting the foundations of our democracy from the legislation which has been passed in the last 5 years that has been steadily ignoring the will of the N Z people.

“We have watched with grave concern the over riding of the core values of a healthy democracy and we are further concerned now about plans to distort the level playing field through the electoral finance bill, said Co Leader Larry Baldock. It is not surprising that the Labour Government is able to get support from the Greens, UF and NZF to ram this bill through, as they all strive to retain their positions of influence,” he said.
