Retirement Of Maori Broadcasting Bastion

Retirement Of Maori
Broadcasting Bastion

Whai Ngata’s decision to retire as General Manager of Maori Programming at TVNZ will be a great loss to all, says New Zealand First’s broadcasting and Maori affairs spokesperson Pita Paraone.

“Whai has spent the best part of his broadcasting career dedicated to advancing Maori broadcasting and language in New Zealand. His reputation as a great leader is unsurpassed and not surprising as his grandfather was the eminent Maori politician Sir Apirana Ngata. I’m sure Sir Apirana would have been proud of what his grandson has achieved.

“New Zealand First salutes Whai and wishes him good health and a joyous retirement.

“Without Whai’s leadership, determination and unwavering commitment, Maori broadcasting in New Zealand would not be where it is today – proud and inspired,” said Mr Paraone.
