Over-Enthusiasm Led To Banner - Peters


New Zealand First has promised to cooperate fully with the police investigation into an election banner being draped over a supporter’s section in Tauranga.

Rt Hon Winston Peters said today that it appeared an old banner from a previous election campaign had been erected by an over-enthusiastic supporter who was unaware of the new Electoral Finance Act, even though the party had sent out clear directions.

“We will help the police with their investigation into this incident and provide any information they seek. At this point we are not certain that a breach of the Act has taken place,” said Mr Peters.
