Hide - Police Time Waster

Rt Hon Winston Peters has described the police decision over New Zealand First party donations as totally expected, and says Rodney Hide's complaint should have been shredded when it arrived.

The police say they are satisfied no offence was committed by New Zealand First over the returns of party donations in 2007.

"Hide claims Act is a law and order party yet he was prepared to waste police time and money on a cheap political stunt.

"No offence had ever been committed by New Zealand First yet Hide was prepared to drag innocent people through the mud for his own devious ends.

"New Zealand First has been targeted from the outset because we stand in the way of people who are prepared to sell their country to the highest bidder," said Mr Peters.

"Hopefully this long smear campaign is at an end," he said.
