Dalziel addresses Community Law Centre AGM

Labour Party Justice Spokesperson Lianne Dalziel today spoke at the Community Law Centre AGM focussing on finding a resolution to the funding crisis facing this service.

“It is critical that Community Law Centres are able to continue their work especially in an economic downturn.

“I wrote to the Minister exactly one month ago, I made the point that this was a time when the community law centres were needed more than ever.

“On Saturday alone I referred two people from electorate office to a Community Law Centre.

Lianne Dalziel sought a two pronged approach that would find a solution to address the immediate funding needs for the 2008/2009 year and an in-depth review of services and funding arrangements to ensure that this kind of scenario does not reoccur.

“I am confident that we can find a solution to these issues, and I hope the Minister will accept my offer if a bipartisan approach,” Lianne Dalziel said
