Kiro made a significant contribution
Outgoing Children’s Commissioner Cindy Kiro played an important role in opening our eyes to the detrimental effects of bullying and child abuse, says Labour spokesperson for Disability Issues and Victim’s Rights Lynne Pillay.
“During her five years in the position Dr Kiro advocated strongly for the rights of children and young people in New Zealand. It was a privilege to work with her.
“Her work has led to greater understanding and acceptance within the community of the need to respect children’s rights.”
“Dr Kiro is a glowing example of Westie tenacity and talent and is immensely respected within Waitakere, as well as nationally and internationally.
“I know she still has much to contribute and I wish her well in her future endeavours.”
