Street welcomes WTO
ruling
Labour’s Spokesperson for Trade, Maryan Street joins the Government in welcoming the WTO ruling in the long-running dispute with Australia over our apple exports.
"The Labour government lodged this case with the WTO in 2007. Finally we have had our position vindicated by this ruling.
"This is good news for our apple growers but the process may not be finished yet.
"I am pleased that the formal dispute procedures have been, and have been seen to be, robust and exhaustive. We will have to wait until the Australian elections are over before we have further dialogue with Australia about this matter.
"But this is a good place to have reached after all this time,” Maryan Street said.
