Parliament Resumes With Business Statement

When Parliament resumed at 2pm the Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee told MPs that next week the Government would seek to make progress on a number of first reading debates including those of the Regulatory Reform (Repeals) Bill and the Crown Pastoral Land (Rent for Pastoral Leases) Amendment Bill.

Wednesday would be a members day, Mr Brownlee said.

Select committee reports were tabled on the:

Financial review of the Ministry of Education as reported by the Education and Science Committee;

Financial reviews of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust (Pouhere Taonga), of the New Zealand Lotteries Commission, and of Drug Free Sport New Zealand as reported by the Government Administration Committee;

Financial review of the Ministry of Women's Affairs as reported by the Government Administration Committee;

Financial review of the Department of Internal Affairs as reported by the Government Administration Committee;

Financial review of the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs as reported by the Government Administration Committee;

Financial review of the Ministry of Maori Development and of non-departmental appropriations for Vote Maori Affairs as reported by the Māori Affairs Committee;

Financial review of the Otago District Health Board, and of the Southland District Health Board as reported by the Health Committee;

Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Bill as reported by the Māori Affairs Committee.

The annual report of the Alcohol Advisory committee was presented.

After Question Time MPs were scheduled to return to the Debate in Reply to the Prime Minister’s statement with three hours and 10 minutes remaining.
