No Urgency For Foreshore Bill

When Parliament resumed at 2pm the Acting Leader of the House Simon Power said the Government intended to make progress on the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Bill next week.

Mr Power indicated the bill would not be undertaken under Urgency.

A petition requesting that Parliament support the Dalai Lama’s middle way approach to Tibet and urge the House to raise the issue with the Chinese Government was presented.

Reports were tabled on the:

Petition of F Traue as reported by the Transport and Industrial Relations Committee;

Report from the Controller and Auditor-General on How the Department of Internal Affairs manages spending that could give personal benefit to Ministers as reported by the Government Administration Committee;

Report from the Controller and Auditor-General on Department of Internal Affairs: Administration of two grant schemes as reported by the Government Administration Committee;

Petition 2008/106 of Monique Watson and 694 others as reported by the Education and Science Committee.

Following Question Time MPs are scheduled to return to the committee stage of the Legal Services Bill.
