Fact Sheet
Queens Wharf -
General
Who owns Queens Wharf?
The
Government and Waterfront Auckland jointly own Queens
Wharf.
What hours will Queens Wharf be
open?
Queens Wharf will be open every day of RWC
2011. Opening hours for each day are still being finalised
and will be announced in the near future.
What is the
easiest way to get there?
All forms of transport lead
to Queens Wharf with ferries pulling up alongside the wharf
and the buses and trains arriving and departing from
Britomart right across the road from the wharf. There are
also a number of carpark buildings nearby in the
CBD.
Will there be special transport services to Queens
Wharf during RWC 2011?
Trains, special event buses
and ferries will all be operating later on match days, with
the last train from Britomart about 1.30am and event buses
continuing until 1am. The NiteRider bus operates to
Auckland’s suburbs from the central city on Friday and
Saturday nights and into the early hours.
Even on days
when there are no RWC 2011 matches on in Auckland, trains
will be operating later than usual, with services until
approximately midnight. On match days, people planning to
use trains are advised to get to the Fanzone early, as from
mid-afternoon services will be very busy with fans
travelling to the game.
Is everything at Queens Wharf
free of charge?
Access to the wharf is free every day
of RWC 2011 – including the live screenings of all matches
and Festival activities including concerts from many of New
Zealand’s most iconic acts. There will be a number of food
and beverage outlets where people can purchase
refreshments.
What happens if it
rains?
With the Cloud and Shed 10 both on Queens
Wharf, there is plenty of indoor space on the wharf for the
screening of live RWC 2011 matches and other activities.
Shed 10 will be the heart and soul of the Fanzone with a
variety of spaces inside so there will be plenty of choice
on Queens Wharf whatever the weather.
