Petition seeks protection for rest home residents

DALZIEL
Earthquake Recovery Spokesperson

5 June 2012 MEDIA ADVISORY

Petition seeks protection for rest home residents past and present

A petition calling on the Government to protect the interests of current and former red zone residents of Christchurch retirement villages will be presented to Lianne Dalziel and representatives from New Zealand First and the Green Party tomorrow.

The petition is signed by all 17 Grey Power board members representing about 60,000 members nationwide. Speakers include Roy Reid, President of Grey Power and Lianne Dalziel MP for Christchurch East.

“I am pleased to be sponsoring this petition with the support of my parliamentary colleagues,” Lianne Dalziel said.

Lianne Dalziel says it is essential that these residents receive an additional payment from Government to make up the difference in value between the Occupation Rights agreement and the 2007 value of their individual units.
