John Key Has Mega Flip-Flop Over Dotcom Fiasco

New Zealand First is accusing Prime Minister John Key of flip-flopping like a pair of wet jandals over the Dotcom investigation fiasco.

Rt Hon Winston Peters says Mr Key said in Parliament yesterday that he was first briefed on the evening of September 24 about the ministerial certificate, signed by acting Prime Minister Bill English, to block information around the Government Communications Security Bureau’s bungled investigation.

“Today Mr Key told Parliament that he first became aware of the ministerial certificate on September 17.

“One of these statements is incorrect and it begs the question of which other comments from Mr Key regarding the Dotcom case have been wildly off the mark.”

Mr Peters says the Prime Minister also told Parliament today that Mr English believed he did need to advise Mr Key about the ministerial certificate because the GCSB would notify him.

“This is a dysfunctional Government desperately trying to hang onto power by whatever means it can.

“In addition, it also appears as if the head of the Prime Minister’s department was privy to information that he never shared with the Prime Minister, if you can believe that.

“This is a highly respected man who Mr Key gave a knighthood to for his diligence.

“This has the stench of a massive cover-up being orchestrated by the Prime Minister, his deputy, and other senior Government officials,” says Mr Peters.
