Young must agree to full Solid
Energy inquiry
Commerce Select Committee chair Jonathan Young has been given the green light to bring former Solid Energy chief executive Dr Don Elder before the committee but he must also allow a full inquiry, says Labour’s SOE spokesperson Clayton Cosgrove.
“John Key, Tony Ryall and Solid Energy chairman Mark Ford have given Jonathan Young the green light to call Dr Don Elder before select committee. He must agree to that and also support a full select committee inquiry into the collapse of Solid Energy.
“This goes beyond Don Elder. There are questions for former chair John Palmer and former Board and others. It’s not good enough to get Dr Elder in for an hour and sweep the rest under the carpet.
“Solid Energy’s collapse is a huge concern to the public. New Zealanders deserve answers on how this successful company turned into a basket case.
“New Zealanders want and deserve answers. It’s time to get them,” says Clayton Cosgrove.
