English attends infrastructure awards in Sydney

Finance Minister Bill English will tonight attend Infrastructure Partnerships Australia’s Annual Infrastructure Oration and National Infrastructure Awards in Sydney.

More than 500 leaders in the infrastructure sector are expected to attend the awards which showcase and celebrate the industry’s achievements over the past year.

“This event provides an opportunity for me to engage with many businesses working in the infrastructure sector, some of which tender for work in New Zealand and compete against New Zealand companies seeking work in Australia,” Mr English says.

“With more than 20 per cent of our total exports going to Australia, our economies are closely linked and it’s important that that we remain well-connected and well-informed about the mood and direction of the Australian economy,” Mr English says.

Mr English returns to Wellington tomorrow.
