New Deputy Health &
Disability Commissioner
Health Minister Tony
Ryall has announced the appointment of Ms Rose Wall, as a
Deputy Health and Disability Commissioner.
“A nurse by
training, Ms Wall has extensive experience and knowledge of
public health services including working at Richmond
Services, the Ministry of Health and Capital & Coast
District Health Board,” says Mr Ryall.
“Her experience
has given her a broad insight into the health and disability
sectors, including the regulatory, funding and operational
areas.”
Ms Wall replaces Ms Tania Thomas and will begin
her five year term on 26 August
2013.

It remains to be seen if announcements today will better protect children, but the National Government is forgoing an opportunity to really help kids by ignoring the elephant in the room, which is poverty, Green Party Co-leader Metiria Turei says.
"All the experts have told the Government that very low income is associated with higher rates of child maltreatment and neglect -- something which was totally ignored in the Government's Children's Action Plan and the announcements today," Mrs Turei said. More>>
