Appointment to External Reporting Board

Commerce Minister Craig Foss today announced the appointment of Graeme Mitchell as Chair of the External Reporting Board (XRB) for a five year term.

“Graeme Mitchell is currently deputy Chair of the XRB. He has significant governance experience and a comprehensive understanding of financial reporting for a range of entities in both the private and public sectors,” says Mr Foss.

Mr Mitchell replaces Kevin Simpkins whose appointment term expires on 28 February 2014.

Mr Foss acknowledged Mr Simpkins’ contributions to the XRB and its predecessor the Accounting Standards Review Board.

Background

Graeme Mitchell was appointed as a member of the Accounting Standards Review Board in February 2010. Mr Mitchell chairs the audit committees of the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Social Development. He is also chair of the audit committee of the Human Rights Commission, and a member of the audit and risk management sub-committee of the Porirua City Council.
