Dunne needs to do his homework

Internal Affairs Minister Peter Dunne appears to have been asleep at the wheel after being blindsided by a police investigation into the theft of passport money, Labour’s Internal Affairs spokesperson Trevor Mallard says.

“Police have been were called in to look at the case of an Internal Affairs staffer who has allegedly been taking passport application money for at least three months, and not completing the process.

Mr Dunne was made Minister over a month ago. He has had plenty of time to set up systems to ensure that he is on top of his job. The fact that he did not read a briefing on a matter of such public importance shows he is not on top of his job.

“Internal Affairs has oversight of the government’s computer systems. How could it be so slack in not picking up the fact that cash that should have been banked, hadn’t been?

“Once again Mr Dunne has been left to his own devices, and once again he’s brought embarrassment on the Government.

“It’s time he did his homework.”
