Developments in Iraq deeply concerning
The
developments in Iraq are of deep concern to New Zealanders
and to the international community, says Labour Leader David
Cunliffe.
“Labour condemns the invasion of Iraq by extremist forces.
“Under Labour, New Zealand sensibly did not send combat forces to the US-led action in Iraq in 2003.
"The Labour government I lead would not contribute combat troops to Iraq under any foreseeable circumstances.
"New Zealand would consider other ways to contribute to multilateral action only if there was an appropriate resolution by the United Nations Security Council,” David Cunliffe says.
