Dysfunction Result of Government’s Meddling
New Zealand First condemns the contradictory statements from Minister of Foreign Affairs Murray McCully over the case of a Malaysian diplomat and the embarrassment his conduct has caused to New Zealand.
“This is not a matter of a simple traffic offence, but a serious crime,” says New Zealand First Leader Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“That the CEO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not know what is going on is a disaster and reflects the poor state the ministry is in which has been brought about by the National Government’s deconstruction in recent years.
“Their meddling and interference has caused chaos and dysfunction within the ministry, so much so that when the ministry was required to step in on behalf of a victim, it has been found wanting.
“The Minister and the National Government must take full responsibility for seriously damaging what was once a high performing ministry,” says Mr Peters.
