integrity
National's deals with spent political forces ACT and United Future will be met with a deepening sense of unease over the manipulation of MMP, Labour Leader David Cunliffe says.
"These parties have no electoral mandate and will return to Parliament only through blatant electoral manipulation.
"The Prime Minster is treating New Zealanders with contempt, using the coat-tailing provisions to abuse the system.
"National obviously considers MMP a plaything and their announcements today will be greeted with a growing sense of unease over this lack of integrity.
"These unprincipled deals demonstrate the creeping sense of arrogance that has become a hallmark of this government.
"This had been underlined again in further instances of conflicts of interest, unwarranted spending of taxpayer funds and arrogance by several National MPs over the last week.
"In government Labour will scrap the coat-tailing provisions and restore integrity to MMP and to the steadily eroding quality of our public life,'' says David Cunliffe.
