The Operation
Clover - Investigation Overview released by police on the
Roast Busters sex investigation case raises more questions
than it answers, says New Zealand First.
“Central
to the issue is that in a country that prides itself on a
strong judicial system why are we unable to provide these
young women with any justice?” says Deputy Leader and
Spokesperson for Women Tracey Martin.
“There were
failings right from the moment this case first gained
notoriety. The fact that at least two of the alleged
perpetrators had been participating in this behaviour for
over two years without any repercussions goes to the depth
of the problem in our society.
“Too often complaints
from women who have suffered are taken lightly. This case
shows there is a great deal of improvement
needed.
“It is now time for everyone involved to
look closely at their roles and ensure systems we expect to
protect us meet our expectations and give a sense of
confidence to those who come forward with
complaints.”

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
