Committee notes

Commerce

The committee met on 4 December to consider the Report from the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment, Evaluating Solar Water Heating: Sun, Renewable Energy and Climate Change. The committee also considered Petition 2011/114 of Peter Diver and 498 others, the Standards and Accreditation Bill, and the 2013/14 annual reviews.

The committee has called for submissions on the Standards and Accreditation Bill, with a closing date of 15 January 2015. The bill can be viewed, and submissions can be made, on the Parliament website.

The committee will next meet on 12 February 2015.

Education and Science

The Education and Science Committee did not meet this week.

Finance and Expenditure

The Finance and Expenditure met on 11 December 2014 to consider the 2013/14 annual reviews. The committee also heard evidence from the Reserve Bank Governor on the Reserve Bank of New Zealand’s Monetary Policy Statement, December 2014.

The committee will next meet on 11 February 2014.

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade

The committee did not meet this week.

Social Services

The committee met on 10 December to consider the Social Assistance (Portability to Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau) Bill. It also considered the annual reviews of the Ministry of Social Development, Housing New Zealand Corporation, the New Zealand Artificial Limb Service, the Children’s Commissioner, and the Families Commission.

The committee will next meet on 11 February 2015, when it will hear evidence from Housing New Zealand Corporation on the 2013/14 annual review of Housing New Zealand Corporation.

Transport and Industrial Relations

The committee met in Wellington on 9 December 2014 to consider its annual reviews and the Health and Safety Reform Bill. The committee will not be meeting in the Christmas adjournment.
