Social justice
advocate Celia Lashlie leaves a legacy that will continue to
have a positive impact on the lives of New Zealanders for
years to come, Labour Leader Andrew Little says.
“Celia
was a powerful voice for reason, sense and compassion. Her
work, particularly with teenage boys, was
ground-breaking.
“She has taught us about making sure
teenage boys get to cross the bridge of adolescence safely,
responsibly and without mollycoddling.
“Her strong
desire to help young people pick the right paths in life
which would help them reach their full potential was lauded
not just in New Zealand but around the world.
“As a
prison officer she was a source of motivation and strength.
That carried over into her work in schools, with parents and
as an author.
“She will be missed hugely. Our sincere
condolences go to her friends and family,” Andrew Little
said.

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
