Minister must take action on death trap slides
Workplace Relations Safety Minister Michael Woodhouse must take urgent action to ensure inflatable amusement rides don’t become death traps for children, Labour’s spokesperson on Labour Relations Iain Lees-Galloway says.
“No one wants to stop kids having fun, but horror stories of children falling metres from giant blow up slides scare all parents.
“News reports suggest a lack of training for staff operating the slides and a cavalier attitude to Health and Safety by operators could be a factor.
“There is no formal oversight of these rides. Michael Woodhouse needs to clarify who is responsible.
“The Government must act urgently. It is just luck there have been no deaths on these rides. Let’s make sure it stays that way,” Iain Lees-Galloway says.
