MP to host Rules Reduction Taskforce Community Meeting

MP to host Rules Reduction Taskforce Community Meeting in Palmerston North

Local MP Jono Naylor has announced that he will be hosting a community meeting to allow members of the public to come along and share their experiences of property rules and regulations that they consider to be irrelevant or unnecessary.

“This is part of the Government’s Rules Reduction Taskforce initiative, created last year, to work closely with local government, trades and the public to weed out pedantic and annoying rules that frustrate and hinder property owners,” say Jono Naylor.

The meeting will be held at the Palmerston North Convention Centre at 2pm on Thursday 23 April. Members of the Taskforce will be present at this public meeting.

Jono is encouraging people to have their say and come along. If anyone wishes to speak at the meeting they should contact his local office on 355 4815 or JonoNaylor.Office@parliamnet.govt.nz to arrange a timeslot.

“Information gathered at the community meeting will be collected on behalf of the Rules Reduction Taskforce. Once the Taskforce has considered all the submissions, it will weigh up the benefits of the rules brought to its attention against the concerns raised, and then make recommendations to the Government for changes.

“Therefore I am encouraging everyone who has been frustrated by a loopy rule to come along and tell us about their experiences. Please contact my office to arrange a timeslot.

“Anyone who misses the meeting can still make a submission directly to the Taskforce through an easy online form,” says Naylor.

The form can be found at www.govt.nz/rulesreduction

Submissions close on June 2015 and the Taskforce will submit its report to the Government by 312 August.
