Key Reneges On Getting ‘Things’ Done in Northland
Just days after telling Northlanders he had “a few things” he would do for the region after the by-election, the Prime Minister appears to have no detail.
In Parliament today, Mr Key refused to categorise what these further promises were and when they will be actioned for the betterment of Northland.
Mr Key told Northlanders, after he rushed back to New Zealand from overseas to try and rescue National’s by-election chances: “There was a few things that we wouldn’t announce. We’re just going to do them after the by-election.”
The New Zealand First Leader and Member of Parliament for Northland, Rt Hon Winston Peters, said Mr Key dodged all questions in relation to details of promises in Northland.
“The Prime Minister and Ministers came in droves to Northland and made many promises. The people of Northland have every right to hold them to their word.
“We will do that on their behalf. It’s time for a big turnaround in government, especially as Mr Key’s attitude today shows he has not listened to the message the people of Northland sent them on Saturday.”
