‘Move Out’ Notice to Rest Home Residents Appalling


New Zealand First is urging the Minister of Health to step-in to help the residents of Port View rest home in New Plymouth which is closing.

“It is appalling that the residents are being told to pack up and move out with just two weeks notice,” says New Zealand First Health Spokesperson Barbara Stewart. “It is inexcusable.”

“What regard have Auckland-based directors Antonio Noblejas and Rene Pascual paid to the vulnerable senior citizens who are paying to stay at the home.

“Instead of working towards a solution in the best interests of the residents, the Taranaki District Health Board has allowed these proprietors to walk away.

“The most important thing is for the DHB and Ministry to step in and give residents the appropriate time to find new facilities where they’ll be treated with proper dignity.” Mrs. Stewart said.
