Kiwis are
losing jobs in prisons as the government puts profits before
people, says NZ First.
“Our predictions that prisoners
are being moved for no good reason from state Corrections
prisons to the private run prison in South Auckland have
come true,” says Corrections Spokesperson Mahesh
Bindra.
“There are enough prison beds throughout New
Zealand so there was no need for a new private prison run by
a foreign company.
“Closing down three units and moving
the prisoners is a pure money-making
venture.
“Private-run prisons make money by treating
people as a number, compromising the safety of both staff
and prisoners and cutting back on rehabilitation
programmes.
“But the Kiwi taxpayer is still paying for
the prisons.
“The loss of jobs for the sake of making
money that ends up offshore is just not right,” says Mr
Bindra.

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
