Minister Thanked for Correcting Overseer Oversight

New Zealand First is offering the Minister for Primary Industries a bouquet for finding money to improve the calibration of the Overseer nutrient management tool, albeit, several days after Budget 2015 and following New Zealand First pointing this out.

“When Budget 2015 was released last week, New Zealand First was surprised to find no mention or additional money for Overseer,” says New Zealand First Primary Industries Spokesperson Richard Prosser.

“Then, several days after the Budget and New Zealand pointing out this Overseer Oversight, out comes a government announcement of more money for its calibration.

“Farmers have been concerned over how this decision support tool has been written into regional plans as an absolute. While we need something that works equally for farmers and the environment, we do need to get Overseer on the best footing.

“Of course the devil is always in the detail but it does seem to be a step in the right direction and is proof to farmers as to what New Zealand First is achieving,” says Mr Prosser.
