Sir Peter Williams, QC

Rt Hon Winston Peters

New Zealand First Leader

Member of Parliament for Northland
10 JUNE 2015

Sir Peter Williams, QC

Sir Peter was a friend, a tremendous criminal lawyer, a fighter for the underdog, an advocate for penal reform, and he took a deep and active interest in the legal system.

He was a believer in the worth and value to our country of every individual.

It is common to eulogise about a person’s importance and value to society when someone of the stature of Sir Peter passes away - in Sir Peter’s case every word is true.

If New Zealand had a hundred people of the character and ability of Sir Peter we would have fewer ills and far more solutions to our problems. Sir Peter started debate on issues, he stood up for those less able to do it for themselves and he pushed for national resolutions.

His work, his campaigning and his advocacy will be missed.
