Getting logistics right is good news for Palmerston North and the environment

Jono Naylor MP wants to showcase Palmerston North’s advantages in logistic and how this is good news for the environment.

“Palmerston North has always been known as a logistics hub” says Jono Naylor.

“We have an advantage in our location; we are close to multiple ports and a thoroughfare for freight traveling the North Island.

“Moving goods around the country has an environmental impact. We need to ensure that goods are moved as economically and environmentally sustainable as possible.

“Palmerston North is well placed to prove that having operations based out of the makes economic sense for companies, but is also good for the environment.

“I am pleased to see companies realising by being based in Palmerston North and being smarter about their connections to ports and rail is an advantage and moving their logistical operations to Palmerston North.

“Recently Toyota New Zealand showed how they reduced CO2 emissions by 39% (5 tonnes per year).

“We need to ensure that other companies learn about this and consider Palmerston North as part of their business plan,” says Naylor.
