Report From New Zealand First Caucus

Rt Hon Winston Peters
New Zealand First Leader
Member of Parliament for Northland
3 JULY 2015

Report From New Zealand First Caucus

As is the practice of New Zealand First following a General Election a vote is taken at an appropriate time for Caucus positions. The vote is always taken after MPs have had some time to familiarise themselves with both their roles and their colleagues.

A vote on Caucus positions was planned for March 2015, but this was overtaken by the Northland By-election and an additional MP coming into Caucus.

Four weeks ago Caucus decided to hold a number of elections as follows:

1. A vote for the new position of Associate Whip, to be held a week later.

2. A vote for the positions of Leader and Deputy Leader on Tuesday, 30th June.

Clayton Mitchell was the successful candidate for the Associate Whip position.
Winston Peters was re-elected as Leader by the Caucus.
Ron Mark was elected as the Deputy Leader with effect from 10am, Friday, 3rd July.

New Zealand First is fortunate to have such high calibre Members of Parliament to contest Caucus positions and the Caucus is grateful to Tracey Martin for her very serious contribution as Deputy Leader.
