NZ First Welcomes Pasifika Back Home to Western Springs

New Zealand First welcomes the return of the Pasifika Festival to its historic home at Western Springs in 2016.

“The festival is a chance for Pacific communities to shine and by holding the event at Western Springs in central Auckland Pasifika culture gets great exposure, reaching a more diverse number of New Zealanders,” says Pacific Island Affairs Spokesperson Pita Paraone.

“Western Springs has been home of the Pasifika Festival for the majority of its 23-year history and the site has many practical advantages for stall holders and festivalgoers.

“When the outdoor festival faced cancellation earlier this year, after the government’s failure at our borders led to a fruit fly outbreak, New Zealand First called for it to be relocated.

“Pasifika 2015 at Hayman Park in Manukau went well but now it’s time for the festival to return to its rightful home,” says Mr Paraone.
