Delegation from the Korean National Assembly visiting the New Zealand Parliament

A delegation of members from the Korean National Assembly is visiting the New Zealand Parliament as part of a wider programme aimed at strengthening relations with New Zealand. A historic free trade agreement was signed earlier this year and is due to be ratified by the National Assembly later this year.

Representatives Hong Il Pyo, Kim Dongcheol, and Kim Tae Won are all members of the Korea-NZ Parliamentary Friendship Group in Korea and will be meeting with their counterparts here in New Zealand.

The Speaker, Rt Hon David Carter, will be welcoming the delegation on behalf of the New Zealand Parliament.

“Opportunities to build stronger relations with other countries are always welcome. New Zealand and Korea have a strong history of working together in areas like education, science, defence, and tourism. The recent signing of a free trade agreement was an historic milestone in the relations between our two countries and I look forward to welcoming the delegation.”

Along with the visit to the New Zealand Parliament, the delegation will also visit a primary school and look at business innovation while in New Zealand.

The delegation will be visiting the New Zealand Parliament on Tuesday 28 July.
