Spin lines show a department in chaos

Spin lines show a department in chaos

Corrections spin doctors sending their place holder lines to journalists instead of responding to serious allegations shows the scale of chaos at the department over the Serco scandal, says Labour’s Corrections Spokesperson Kelvin Davis.

“As more and more serious allegations pile up about years of failure and cover up by Serco, the Corrections department is losing the plot.

“Today it has been revealed that instead of a response to allegations by TV3, they have emailed out place holder lines prepared in advance for whatever new allegations arise.

“This is a total farce. There are so many new, serious allegations that Corrections can’t seem to keep up.

“This is just more evidence that Corrections Minister Sam Lotu-Iiga has totally lost control. While his department descends into chaos, there are still people being bashed at Mt Eden.

“At this point, John Key needs to be thinking very hard about sacking Serco Sam,” says Kelvin Davis.
