We Say It Yet Again – Serco Must Go
The attack on a transgender prisoner at the
Serco-run Wiri prison proves yet again that Serco’s
continued management is damaging and pointless, says New
Zealand First.
“The latest report of an assault adds more proof Serco’s management of New Zealand prisons is a failure,” says Corrections Spokesperson and former Senior Corrections Officer Mahesh Bindra.
“Yet another review will not change the management, but the government that decided to install a corporate to run prisons can.
“The Minister of Corrections Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga should sack Serco and put prisons back in state management as Serco is not managing for the safety of staff or prisoners,” says Mr Bindra
