Whanganui Children’s Team launched

Local MP Chester Borrows is looking forward to the positive difference the Whanganui Children’s team will make to the lives of at-risk kids.

“We have a duty to protect children from harm.

“The Whanganui Children’s Team works by developing an individual support plan and a single point of contact for a vulnerable child and their family.

“To ensure the child has the best possible chance in life, the team will integrate a range of social services, including health and education,” Mr Borrows says.

The Whanganui Children’s Team was launched on Friday by Social Development Minister Anne Tolley. It will support 400 at-risk children over the next two years.

“I credit all those involved in getting the team to this operational stage.

“Children’s Teams are about working together in a different way to get better outcomes for threatened children. There is nothing more important” Mr Borrows said.

Children’s Teams are a key part of the government’s plan to reduce child abuse and neglect.
