Green Party mourns Jonah Lomu

Green Party mourns Jonah Lomu

The Green Party wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to the family, friends and fans of Jonah Lomu.

“Today is a very sad day for New Zealand; we have lost an icon,” said Green Party sports and recreation spokesperson Kevin Hague.

“Jonah Lomu is the most famous and beloved rugby player the world has ever seen; he had an undeniable impact around the globe, including in places where rugby isn’t commonly played.

“Jonah loved nothing more than tearing up a rugby field, running over and around his opponents, and we loved watching him do it.

“While Jonah Lomu was a giant on the field, he was also gentleman off it.

“Jonah’s strength, determination and courage in taking on what was a serious and debilitating illness will be as much a part of his legacy as the tries he scored.

“Our thoughts are with Jonah’s wife, Nadene, his two young sons, and all of those who knew and loved him,” said Mr Hague.
