HEALTH MINISTER DENIES NORTHLAND DHB BUDGET BLOWOUT
New Zealand First is calling on the government to come clean on the state of Northland District Health Board.
In Parliament, Minister of Health Jonathan Coleman denied there had been a 30 per cent blowout of the DHB’s budget, says New Zealand First Leader and Member of Parliament for Northland Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“We understand that the DHB, in fulfilling a directive from the government to do more surgery, has been overstretched financially.
“It is all very well for the Minister to claim the DHB was given more money, but obviously it was not enough to cover the extra workload.
“It is unfair if the DHB is now under pressure. The Minister must explain and satisfy Northlanders that the DHB will not be reducing services.”
