Paul Foster-Bell welcomes Prime Minister’s announcement of funding for Great Rides.
Paul Foster-Bell is welcoming the Prime Ministers announcement of $229,600 for the Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency to spend on maintaining New Zealand Cycle Trail Great Rides in the Wellington region.
“The Great Rides are used every day by both International and domestic visitors and provide a great source of exercise and a fantastic way to see our beautiful region, ” says Foster-Bell.
This is the third round of Great Rides maintenance funding. The Government is investing $8 million over four years through the fund to ensure that the Great Rides are kept up to their current world-class standards.
“The Great Rides have provided a significant boost to tourism in New Zealand and the funding provided will help ensure that users can continue to soak up New Zealand’s beautiful scenery in a safe and enjoyable way.”
More than 125,000 people got in the saddle to use the cycle trail in January 2015, compared to 97,000 in January 2014.
