Latest Decision Reckless in Fight Against Bovine TB
The reduction in bovine tuberculosis movement control areas for cattle is ludicrous, says New Zealand First.
“We make no bones about it, we have bovine TB in cattle, however, it makes no sense to free up the movement of herds,” says Primary Industries Spokesperson Richard Prosser.
“Movement control is effective in reducing cattle infection and this announcement in the New Zealand Gazette ignores that fact.
“To reduce the size of movement control areas before we have the disease licked is reckless.
“The Minister of Primary Industries Nathan Guy must review this thoughtless decision which could undo all the success achieved so far.
“We should be increasing movement control areas not decreasing them,” says Mr Prosser.
