Appointments to Lottery Distribution Committees

Internal Affairs Minister Hon Peter Dunne today announced 32 appointments across 15 Lottery Distribution Committees. There are 13 new members and 19 reappointments.

“Distribution committees fund a range of great projects and programmes and make a major contribution to communities up and down the country. The appointees bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and community connections, and will help ensure the committees continue to be well-placed to do their work.”

Lottery Auckland Community Committee – Marina Vaha has been reappointed and George Ngatai JP has been appointed as a Member.

Lottery Bay of Plenty/Gisborne Community Committee - Wendy Tozer has been reappointed and Mike Keefe JP and James Clark have been appointed as Members.

Lottery Canterbury/Kaikoura Community Committee – Dugald McLean has been promoted to Presiding Member and Christine Korako has been reappointed as a Member.

Lottery Hawke’s Bay Community Committee – Diana Petersen JP, MNZM has been reappointed and Sarah Mulcahy has been appointed as a Member.

Lottery Manawatu/Whanganui Community Committee - Bernard Wanden JP and Ruth Rainey JP have been reappointed and Stephen Paewai and Karney Herewini have been appointed as Members.

Lottery Northland Community Committee - Neil Clements and Gwen Te Pania-Palmer have been reappointed and Darlene Lang Gent has been appointed as a Member.

Lottery Otago/Southland Community Committee - Nigel Moore JP and Beverley Evans have been reappointed.

Lottery Taranaki Community Committee - Lynn Bublitz has been reappointed and Terry Parkes has been appointed as a Member.

Lottery Waikato Community Committee - Shannon Harnett has been reappointed as a Member.

Lottery Wellington/Wairarapa Community Committee - Bernard Cleary has been reappointed and Josie Adlam has been appointed as a Member.

Lottery West Coast/Nelson-Marlborough Community Committee - Alison McAlpine, Viveyan Tuhimata-Weke and Michael Pugh have been reappointed and Larry Ching MNZM has been appointed as a Member.

Lottery Marae Heritage and Facilities Committee - Edward Ellison and Heather Tanguay JP have been reappointed and Nicole Anderson has been appointed as a Member.

Lottery National Community and Lottery Outdoor Safety Committees - Margaret (Elsie) McKee has been appointed as a Member.

Lottery World War One Commemorations, Environment and Heritage Committee – Philippa Fourie has been promoted to Presiding Member and Vivienne Shaw has been appointed as a Member.

“I would like to thank outgoing members Roger Burrill, Joelene James, Quentin Hix, Tom Mulligan, Dot McKinnon, Murray Broadbelt, Janette Brocklehurst, Mele Wendt Maria Williams, John Clarke, Stephen Smith and Duncan Taylor for their service to their respective communities. I would also like to acknowledge the valued contribution of the late Harold O’Rourke and Bruce Hamilton to their respective Lottery Committees”, said Mr Dunne.

Lottery Distribution Committees make grants for community purposes, using money allocated by the Lottery Grants Board from the profits of New Zealand lotteries. There are currently 7 national committees focused on particular themes or issues and 11 regional committees with a general community focus.
