Two Strikes Down; One Left for Brownlee, Says NZ First

The Government is two strikes down with one left on Christchurch’s central city rebuild, says New Zealand First.

“Treasury has given a fail mark in a performance review of the government-led Christchurch central city anchor projects and comments since from Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee reveal the government can’t take it,” says New Zealand First Leader and Northland Member of Parliament Rt Hon Winston Peters.

“This is the second time government-led rebuild projects have been given a fail mark by Treasury which Mr Brownlee has called ‘disrespectful.’

“Five months ago Treasury red-flagged the Christchurch Central City Delivery Programme which drew a blast from Mr Brownlee who said it was ‘utter tripe’.

“It wasn’t tripe; nor is this latest review rating.

“If Treasury comes up with a third fail mark then Mr Brownlee needs to go,” Mr Peters says.
