Bishop congratulates Hutt Valley’s golden winners

National List MP Chris Bishop has congratulated Hutt Valley businesses who won top awards at the 2016 Wellington Gold Awards.

UBCO, Sanpro Industries, and Concrete Structure Investigations all won a Gold Award at the ceremony held in Wellington last evening. The Wellington Gold Awards celebrate the excellence and enterprise of business in the Wellington Region.

“It was great to be at the awards last night along with the Prime Minister to celebrate the finalists and winners,” says Mr Bishop, National List MP based in the Hutt Valley.

“UBCO, winners of the Discovering Gold Award, is one of the most innovative businesses in the country, developing 2X2 all-electric farm bikes and promoting a sustainable, electric alternative for the rural community. UBCO are based at 1st Assembly in High Street, a space for hardware-focussed Hutt startups.

“Sanpro continues to gather accolades, going from Global Gold finalist in 2015 to winner in this year’s awards. Their machines make mufflers for cars and trucks better than anyone else in the world.

“Emerging Gold – Services winner Concrete Structure Investigations have cutting edge diagnostic testing to take an in-depth look at concrete structures. All three companies represent the excellent hi-tech manufacturing sector that we have here in the Hutt.

“The success of our Hutt winners and nominees further shows the potential for the Hutt Valley to become “’Technology Valley’ – a centre of hi-tech manufacturing, science, technology and innovation in New Zealand.

“It was a proud night for the Hutt Valley – even the official photographer, Brady Dyer, is a Hutt Valley businessman!”
