Air NZ Neglects Business Needs
Business people from Invercargill got no joy today from Air New Zealand when it called city leaders to a meeting, says New Zealand First.
“The airline is cancelling three flights at weekends from the city, and failed to offer a direct link from Invercargill to Auckland,” says Ria Bond, New Zealand First MP based in Invercargill.
“There seems to be no understanding that business people need to go to the Super City, yet many are driving to Queenstown or Dunedin just so they can get that direct flight.
“Apparently the focus is on getting people to connections for international flights, at the expense of local businesses who want to do a day’s business in Auckland.
“It is ironic that the Prime Minister only recently opened a new airport at Invercargill and now Air New Zealand is cutting flights. Air New Zealand should give a clear statement on what it’s future plans are.”
