Kiwis to Miss Out on Another Great Olympic Moment

Most New Zealanders yet again will not have a chance to see live action of a top Kiwi going for gold at the Rio Olympics when Lisa Carrington defends her title later tonight, says New Zealand First’s Sport and Recreation spokesman, Clayton Mitchell.

“Lisa will start favourite to defend her Olympic canoe sprint title but because the government has not ensured we have live free-to-view broadcasts, most Kiwis will have to wait to see it when the event is long over and everyone knows the result.

“The great majority of New Zealanders do not have Sky and that is why it’s time the government came on board and provided free-to-view coverage of major events which other countries such as Australia, Canada and the UK provide,” Mr Mitchell says.
