Who: Green Party water spokesperson
Catherine Delahunty and Green Party health spokesperson
Kevin Hague
Green Party MPs Catherine Delahunty and Kevin Hague will attend tonight’s public meeting on Havelock North’s gastric illness outbreak and contaminated water supply.
“We’re going to show our support for the community of Havelock North, and to hear their concerns about the state of the water in their area,” said Ms Delahunty.
“It’s unacceptable that in ‘clean, green New Zealand’, people should have to endure an outbreak like this. The Government has given up on swimmable rivers, has it now given up on clean drinking water too?
“The Government-led Inquiry into the outbreak must consider the way we use our land, and how that affects water quality. Anything less will be selling Havelock North and the rest of the country short,” said Ms Delahunty.
